What are the pros and cons of using fuses to protect circuits?
Main advantages and characteristics of fuses :
① Good selectivity. As long as the rated current of the fuse link of the upper and lower level fuses meets the requirements of the national standard and the IEC standard that the overcurrent selection ratio is 1.6:1, that is, the rated current of the upper level fuse link is not less than 1.6 times the value of the lower level, it is regarded as the upper and lower level. Selectively cut off the fault current; ② Good current limiting characteristics, high breaking capacity; ③ relatively small size; ④ The price is cheaper.

The main disadvantages and weaknesses of fuses:
① The fuse must be replaced after the fault is blown; ② The protection function is single, and there is only one section of overcurrent inverse time characteristic, which is used for protection against overload, short circuit and ground fault; ③ When one-phase fusing occurs, it will lead to adverse consequences of two-phase operation for three-phase motors. Of course, it can be compensated by a fuse with an alarm signal. One-phase fusing can disconnect three phases; ④ Remote control cannot be realized, it needs to be combined with electric knife switch and switch to be possible.
